Striking Gold

I was walking with the Office Dog on Friday. We (that's Office Dog and I) were traversing a field we visit regularly and enjoying the brief respite between wintry showers.
I must admit that although I try to be mindful and in the moment during our walks, my thoughts often drift. This particular day I was walking the usual route, watching Office Dog bound around when something unusual caught my attention.
Being a curious type, I went to investigate and was astonished to find a lonely sunflower in the middle of the harvested field. I was so pleased to be in the right place at the right time to discover a sunflower so determined to raise a cheery head to the clouds despite its unusual and exposed location. My morning was improved by finding treasure where least expected.
